Our card ministry reaches those people who are grieving a recently departed loved one; recuperating from sickness, injury, or surgery; or just needs some uplifting. The cards are signed and prayed over at each month. If you know someone who could use a card and prayer, e-mail us at smyrnawesleyan@verizon.com or call the church office.
We are collecting shoeboxes for Operation Christmas child, a ministry of Samaritan’s purse. We will be giving these boxes out soon for you to fill up with items for a boy or girl. We collect the filled boxes in November and they are delivered to boys and girls across the globe sharing the message of Christ. Please bring your empty shoeboxes to the church and leave in the vestibule.
Secret Sisters has launched. If you interested in participating, please contact Margaret Houchins. Stay tuned for future announcements of Secret Sister activities.
Mark your calendars now and join us for the following church wide activities:
UN-Birthday Party , date TBD. We will have a table decorated with a special theme for each month of the year. We currently are looking for volunteers to decorate February, April, September and November. See Marion Boatwright if interested. Everyone brings a covered dish or two (enough to feed your family + two) and we share a meal together. Each person sits at the table that represents the month in which he/she is born. Its a great time of fellowship with other people who were born in the same month as you!
Our CLOTHING GIVEAWAY is scheduled for October 1st at the Municipal Park from 9 a.m. – Noon. We need HELPERS! Folks to pack, unpack, monitor, greet, bring snacks. Sorting of clothing will be done each Sunday at 5 p.m. in the basement of the church from now until the giveaway and we’d love your help. Please bring in any good used clothing – all sizes needed. Sharon Cahall is overseeing this ministry.
